Social Justice Committee
The purpose of the Social Justice Committee is to provide education, resources, training, and support to housing professionals to assist in their work with matters related to diveristy and social justice.
Committee Goals
-
Members will have access to resources pertaining to social justice including but not limited to: programming, traning,and education opportunities.

Outstanding individual, programmatic, and institutional efforts in social justice will be recognized.

Members will be provided with an inclusive enviroment through various Social Justice Committee events, activities and resources.

Member will be provided usefull and valuable professional develompents in the areas of social justice.
- Association will be aide in recruitment and retention efforts of persons from diverse populations and committeed to social justice.

History will be preserved for future support of committee growth.
Committee Awards-
The Social Justice Committee has two awards that members of the assoication can nominate collegues and programs that collegues work with for recognition at the annual conference.
Commitment to Social Justice Award- Individual
This award will recognize an outstanding housing and/or residence life staff memeber, or someone affiliated with housing and/or residence life, who has demonstrated a continued commitment to social justice through his or her actions.

Social Justice Action Award
This award will recognize a programatic effort or an ongoing collaborative program/series/initiative made by an individual or an organziation/department on campus, or the campus as a whole, that impacted the students, staff, and/or faculty in the area of social justice.

Resources
In fall 2007 the Social Justice Committee (formerly DAC) introduced DARK. DARK is a resource cd for assoication members campuses. This year Social Justice Committee will be updating DARK adding some new resources and making it more user friendly. DARK cds will be available during the committee fair at the annual conference in Kearney.
