Social Justice Committee

The Social Justice Committee is a group of UMR-ACUHO members of different perspectives, experiences, and backgrounds who will contribute to the education and awareness of privilege, oppression, identities & experience and its impact between ourselves and the interactions & relationships we have with others.

We will be using the following definition of social justice as a guide for our work:

“The goal of social justice education is full and equal participation of all groups in a society that is mutually shaped to meet their needs. Social justice includes a vision of society that is equitable and all members are physically and psychologically safe and secure.”

Committee Goals

Members will have access to social justice resources including but not limited to: programming, training, and education opportunities.
Outstanding individual, programmatic, and institutional social justice efforts will be recognized.
Members will be provided safe spaces and opportunities to ask questions, take risks, and learn from and with one another through various Social Justice Committee efforts.
Members will be provided professional development in the areas of social justice.
The work of the Social Justice Committee will lead to the recruitment and retention of persons from diverse populations.
History will be preserved for future support of committee growth.
